I finally had my first cross-stitch finish!! :D (Well, technically second, but I haven't done one of these since I was about 10 years old prior to now, so...I count this as the first. ;)) I am SO PROUD of how this turned out. I saw the pattern on Etsy and just HAD to buy it and make it. I started it on April 7th and just finished it a couple days ago. I still need to mat and frame it (I just need to figure out how! It turned out a weird size that's not an even inch or half inch, so...) but this is how it looks :) It was well worth all the effort!!
Bye bye mein leiber herr....Collapse )

I've decided to clean out my stash of kits that I believe I shall never use, but what to do with them? Throw them out? Hardly!

I have four kits of various Celtic crosses, two of them from the Vickery collection. Opened and looked at but never sorted out and used!!! If anyone here cares to claim them all I'm asking is the postage, nothing more.

I'm looking for a...palate cleansing project after crocheting Christmas gifts for the past month and I've thought about doing cross stitch until the weather gets warm enough for crochet again and I've thought about trying stamped cross stitch to get my feet wet again but I'm a little confused about it. Do I stitch over the stamped design including the colored parts or does it depend on the design?

Thanks in advance

I stumbled across this today on lunch break during my daily check for cute free patterns, and thought you guys might find it interesting-I think it's adorable and may have to make one for myself; though I have no idea how I would display it unless I could find a couple of those square picture frames (the kind where you can put a picture in each side) and display each month like that.

What do other stitchers do about the fabric that's outside the frame you are using to do your stitching? As the stitching gets closer to the edge of one side of the fabric there's obviously a lot more fabric outside the frame on the opposite side and it interferes with my stitching hand ..... depending on the frame I'm using, I can double it over and secure it that way, but if the frame is small I have all this free fabric .... any suggestions?

Okay, I officially do not like Janlynn cross stitching kits! I just opened one to do and while they list the threads so you can sort them, they do not tell you how many strands per colour you should have .... which makes it a little difficult when you have orange and dk gold and you want to double check that you have the right colour to the right code for the pattern, or you have vy drk pink, pink, and light pink ..... and they are missing the lt pink! If I knew how many strands of thread I should have for each colour I could figure out if I screwed up! Thankfully I have a colour chart that should help me, but since the pink and lt pink are going to be similar shades, that's not going to help me find the thread(s)!

So, I'm looking for a cheap gift for my friends for christmas. At first I was thinking ornaments, but I want it to be something useful (we are all college kids and don't need a bunch of random useless stuff in our dorms, haha). I was thinking of stitching little zipper change purses on keychains and doing different patterns on one side, depending on interests, etc. and their name on the other side...

Does anyone else have any good gift ideas that are crafty/cross-stitch related (or even not cross-stitch related)? Besides cross-stitching, I can sew as well, so I am often to the idea of a sewing-only/no cross-stitch project, if you have any awesome ideas, but I'd like to do a cross-stitch project if I can.

Thanks!

I am intersted in getting a subscription to a cross-stitching magazine.  With limited funds, I wanted to see if anyone here could recommend some good magazines that they like, and maybe why they like them!

Thanks in advance!

Happy stitching!
